two take downs of UConn's Dolson in full view of the refs and she gets one flagrant 1 and a no call. Hard to believe a ref was staring right at the second one and said it was a no call. That was worthy of a blue ribbon in rodeo bull wrestling.
good win for Baylor and for the Big 12, But Griner is too good a player to have to do those type of fouls. This is the first time I have seen her lose her composure since that infamous incident at Tech. Reminded me of Andrea Riley of OSU.
Assuming they meet in the championship game, and odds are good that will happen, I have to wonder if the refs will swallow their whistles in similar circumstances or will they call them Flagarnt 1s or 2s. That second one should have been a Flagrant 2, elbow to the neck and throwdown of Dolson. That certainly would have changed the complex of the game.
I have to give props to Dolson for keeping her cool after both incidents and continuing to play well. She could easily have been injuried during either takedown.
Griner is a great player who rarely goes off on anyone. But last night she again just got a bellyful of being chopped, shoved, and hacked with no calls.
If you are getting hammered inside, you or the coach go to the refs and ask them to watch the hacking, you DON'T engage in 2 throw downs in one game. Makes you look like a thug, ahem!
Griner is a ticking time bomb. She will strike again, most likely with another fist, before it's all said and done.
If anyone watching thinks she's the only one that takes a lot of jabs, elbows, etc, you need to look closer. She gets in her fair share of blows. She should have gotten the 2nd T, but they're not going to do that because she's the side-show for the road to the Final Four.
The Big 12 teams have been putting up with that for four years, now Stanford, UConn and Notre Dame will get a little taste of the no-calls in big games coming up.
Uconn, Stanford and ND already have seen that "no call " policy in effect. If anyone thinks that Griner is the only that gets pushed, shoved, hacked, etc inside, they haven't watched many, if any, college games lately. Just ask our posts what life inside is like. I'm sure they will say that it's kinda of physical in there. It certainly is just watching from the stands.
