Griner files for annullment

Why would the pregnancy matter? Griner didn't get Glory pregnant.

But did Griner agree to the pregnancy? Did Glory get pregnant with an agreement that she and Griner would marry and Griner would help support Glory and the baby? By getting the marriage annulled, Griner would have no legal responsibility to the child. Glory is left pregnant, and, while pregnant, unable to work at her profession. Glory will likely lose an entire overseas season in addition to this year's WNBA season. I do not know anything, of course. I am just saying, yes, the pregnancy complicates things. Depending on the facts, Griner does or does not have a financial responsibility related to the child.

It matters to the degree any pregnancy, or resulting child matters in a relationship. There are many couples who have children with no biological relationship to one or both parents (adoption, IVF/surrogacy). Since this pregnancy occurred while Brittney and Glory were together they bear equal responsibility. I'm speaking in terms of financial responsibility; whether Brittney chooses to be a part of the child's life at any point, beyond any legal obligations, is another matter.

I just hate the whole scenario. Just because it is legal for same sex marriages to happen doesn't mean you should do it. It just seems like a mockery now with these two. I was happy for them when the engagement was announced, but the drama that has happened since then has been crazy. All the more reason for advocates against same sex marriage to have a good reason.

I agree it's a sad way for their relationship to end, but I don't think the same-sex aspect makes it any more or less of a mockery. Sadly there are a lot of marriages that end almost before they begin (and plenty more that probably should have!).
