Has anyone ever done this? A friend of mine suggested it the other day and I want some informed opinions/tips before I try it.

Like a chuck roast? Sounds like it might be tough. I've only slow cooked them.

Report back though!

Will do. It is something they do some of in the new country that I live in. They are big on cooking out. It is kinda like a poor man's Texas Cookout

I can see doing the thin bone-in chuck steaks on the grill. I have actually seen this in mexico. The flavor should be good but you definititly want it cooked quickly or it would be like chewing leather.

Back in the day (when I was a student at Texas), my house mate would pay for the meat if I would grill it. We ate grilled chuck steak two or three times a week. It's actually pretty good if you buy USDA Choice and don't overcook it. We tried it once using a chuck roast, but that didn't turn out as well.
