Grilled Salmon Recipe?

Anyone have a good recipe for grilled salmon filets? I looked online a bit, but all the recipes had mayo (which I don't like on salmon) or they required 40 ingredients. I can grill the salmon ok, but the flavor just isn't there. Suggestions?

My brother has a good recipe, very simple but still the best tasting salmon I've ever had. He uses just a bit of olive oil, garlic salt and pepper as seasoning, throw it on the grill for a bit and you're ready to go. Mmmm...damn, this is making me want to go get some salmon and eat again.

Make yourself a glaze of maple syrup, soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger and garlic and put it on a soaked cedar plank and grill for bout half an hour.

I usually grill the steaks if I'm grilling salmon. Olive oil, salt, pepper and some dill and grill. Simple and good to go. I've also used some salmon/trout spice pack from Central Market that was pretty good. I've wanted to try to the wood plank method with a filet, but haven't gotten around to it.

A long time ago when we went to Alaska, the guides there were cooking it with a lot of honey and it was great. Always try and include that, but the exact recipe keeps changing.

Sweet thanks. Suppose you are cooking salmon steaks directly on the grill, do you put the skin side down or up? Also, do you turn them or will they cook all the way through on their own?

When I am cooking them on the Old Smokey grill, I just do them skin side down and cook the top on the hole time. The skin will kind of protect the bottom side while the tops will get the heat as well. If you have a smoker you can indirectly smoke them at about 200 degrees (I think that's right, have to check) and I think that was around an hour. Either way, just check for the right flakiness with a fork.

this recipe is for 1.5 lbs salmon, and is probably my favorite dish in the world.

1.5 tsp grated lemon peel
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup vegetable oil (canola oil is my mom's choice though)
1.5 tsp prepared horseradish
1/4 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp pepper
mix, spread, and refrigerate

it's recommended that you marinate for at least 3 hours, or overnight. then grill it up! (i start out skin side down on filets and probably hit up a few minutes of skin side up close to the end.)
