Green Zone

Does anyone have a clip of the female sideline reporter talking about teams getting in the Green Zone? It's the interview right after halftime. Seriously, are red and green THAT hard to seperate.

Yeah, I noticed that too.

maybe the green zone is the whole field? both teams were having trouble in the green zone up until that point.

I thought there was some sort of distinction between the Red Zone and the Green Zone. Not for sure, but maybe the Red Zone is from the 20 yardline in while the Green Zone is from the 10 yardline in?

You guys do realize that some teams have different names for the 'Red Zone', right?

I believe the Chargers call it the 'Gold Zone'

Green = Go
Red = Stop

Some teams are referring to the red zone as the green zone now because they think referring to inside the 20 as the red zone gives it a negative connotation. NY or NE may be doing this and this is why she was referring to it as the green zone.

I have heard some announcers refer to the "green zone" as the part of the field inside the ten yard line, kind of like a "super red zone." I don't hear it often though.

Simon says scoring less than 95% of the time while in the green zone shall result in the death of at least one useful player from the failing team.

Its true. If you don't tune out sideline reporters and announcers, you will hear them say that teams are calling the part of the field inside the 20 more positive names. Like someone mentioned the Chargers call it the gold zone. The rational was based on the perceived negative nature of the color red. Stupid I know but that was the explanation given.

YELLOW ZONE: own goal line to own 10-yard line
GREEN ZONE:
own 10-yard line to opponent's 25-yard line
RED ZONE:
opponent's 25-yard line to opponent's goal line
GOLD ZONE:
goal line and short yardage situations

The definition of "Green Zone varies" from coach to coach. It's not a concrete concept. In that Landry checklist that I go by, for example, it just means the opponent's 10 yard line when you're on offense.

Green Zone is no new term. You will always hear offensive coaches call it the green zone while defensive coaches call it the red zone. In high school we called being inside the 20 to go the green zone and not coincidently our coach was Johnnie Ringo (former Austin Westlake OC for Dree Brees)
