Green Pastures

Took some guests from out town there for Sunday brunch. Having never been there before, I was awed both by the house and the spread.

Has anyone else been there? Why is there not more discussion about it when the better restaurants in town are debated?

It's so "old Austin" and so far removed from most other great restaurants that nobody seems to think of it. I agree, it's a terrific restaurant. I've had a couple of friends get married there, too.

Green Pastures is a true iconic Austin institution run by the Koocks. Mary Faulk Koock was the matriarch of the clan. Her obit gives a lot of the history of the family in the 20th century.

Their sons went to St. Edward's High School, where I knew a couple of them.

Good people they are.
