Green Day

I would love to hear a report on this. A friend of mine from high school was hired by GD to be a backup vocalist/guitarist on tour with them. I've seen him with the band on TV, but was wondering how the live show was. They're not coming to Dallas this time around for some reason, or else I would have went.

First off, I'm not the biggest GD fan in the world. My 15 yr old daughter wanted to go and I figured pretty soon I won't be cool enough for her to let me take her to a concert. So I decided to just get over all the guyliner and manscara and do it.

What a great show! Billy Joe is either on the Billy Mays diet or he is in amazing shape for his age. We opted for reserved seats since I figured, and correclty, that the moshing might be too much for an old guy like me. Some security guy had to be helped off after he went down trying to catch a crowd surfer.

They played for 2 1/2 hrs and did just about every song I knew and some I didn't. Plenty off American Idiot and Dookie. And no medley's of their stuff. Billy did do a little medley of Crazy Train, You Really Got Me, Iron Man, and some Doors tune.

They brought at least 5 people on stage to sing and one guy even played Guitar for Jesus of Suburbia. I wondered if he was a plant since he played it so well. The funniest part is when Billy brought a little kid on stage and "saved" him with a faith healing.

The show had alot of energy and the sound was great. Load and Loads of Pyrotechnics too. And Fire. Billy knows how to whip the crowd up into a frenzy and looks like he is really having a great time. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting to have as much fun as I did. I highly recommend this show.

I love Green Day and especially Billie Joe Armstrong. (And not just because we share the same birthday, but it helps.)

I've always wanted to see them live, and now reading this just makes it more so.

You should have gone to San Antonio last night. I drove from north of Dallas 300 miles to Houston, went to the concert, then drove home and got in at 3:30. No step for a stepper.

My wife & I took our kids last night in SA. It was a present for our daughter's b-day, but it was a gift for me as well. The wife & I have seen many concerts over the years and we both agreed that was in the Top 5. Most importantly, my daughter loved it and will have that memory forever.

Like the above poster said, those guys played for almost 3 hours and even though their music hasn't changed that much over the years, their songs didn't get stale after 2 hours of playing.

First of all, Billy Jo is a great entertainer. He constantly engaged and involved the audience. At least 6 or 7 times throughout the show he brought people up to play guitar, sing, or just do goofy stuff. He also went up into the stands during one song as he continued to play. He also spotted one girl that he recognized from 5 or 6 previous stops on the tour. He brought her up on stage and thanked her for being such a devout (perhaps stalkerish) fan. After about 20 years of playing gigs, it's very impressive that these guys still care so much about the audience.

If that girl was wearing a green tiara, I saw her in line in Houston. I heard her telling how many shows she's been to and was just slightly freaked out. Or maybe it was her New York accent.

Thanks for the reports. I really wish they would've come through Dallas, especially since I think I couldve swung backstage passes. Maybe next time...
