I'm over the moon(sorry dog lol) happy. Yes, it was closer that it probably should've been, but we can win every game ugly for all I care.
After KSU, I was happy for the ugly win, but did have some issues that I felt must be improved to continue winning.
One issue was lack of finishing drives with points.
Another issue was critical errors that effectively were like turnovers or drive killers.
A third issue dealt with inconsistency and specifically some spectacular inaccuracy on the part of Sam E on some wide open plays.
I faulted the team for not being aggressive enough in using their spectacular talent at wide reciever--throw it to them and give them a chance to make a play!
My formula for having a chance to win, was to minimize the errors, be more consistent and finish drives, EXECUTE, more aggressive play calling utilizing the wide receivers, and for Sam to have his best game in terms of decision making and getting the ball out of his hands quickly. Check, check, check, check.
We've come a long way baby and OU was a big step. Every issue with which I had an issue was addressed. Sam had IMO his best game and the I'm glad we had our OC back because the play calling was nicely aggressive, but still well grounded (smash mouth). Nice to have our center Zack back and the OL firing on all cylinders.
One of the things I've come to love with this team, is that it really is a team with different units stepping up and having the back of other units. At KSU it was our defense largely covering for the offense and we win ugly. For OU it was the offense stepping up to help out our struggling defense which had to handle a very talented OU offense.
And how proud can you be of Dicker who under extreme pressure hits two long field goals including the 40+ (effective) game winner.

Another good thing about winning ugly and what I also love about this team is their humility and recognition they can continue to improve to tap even more potential. The one game at a time mantra may be over used, but this team is definitely of that mind set.

OK, I'll throw in just a couple of items that maybe the team could improve and learn from.
1) Deep snapper, please quit scaring me with high snaps on punts!
2) The offense stayed away from drive killing errors for 3+ quarters but with about 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, we got 2 holding calls on one drive and then another holding on another drive, which stalled 2 drives when we could have closed out the game with a few first downs. This helped fuel the OU comeback and was so instructive why attention to detail is so important when you are competing at high levels.
3) OU and specifically Murray have tremendous talent, but I hope hour defensive coaches and staff learned something about playing with a big lead, Just seemed like it backfired pretty badly to start playing (prevent) instead of the defense that got us to that point. Or at least learn how to better play the intended containing defense to make them chew clock.
--------------------------
I'm very proud of this team. To TH and everyone involved in Texas football program, thank you for making Texas football relevant again. Its been too long coming but seems sweeter after the all the struggles. We still have a long ways to go, but I don't doubt we are headed in the right direction.
