Great Job by our Swimming Teams!

Our men and women's swimming and diving teams did great this year and in the NCAA finals.
The great thing is that both were young teams and have most of the team members back next year along with some super recruits. I think we will compete for NCs the next several years and hopefully bring home a few and get out of the 40s in our NC totals.
Well Done Horns! Thank you for your work in the pool and in the classroom that you have done for us.

Does this assure a Texas victory in the Lone Star Showdown?

No Gem. The points for these sports were decided when the two teams met head to head earlier. But I think we have a good chance to win it this year even though it will probably be close.
Even though we want to win this showdown it must be taken in perspective. I remember we lost the Women's Big 12 Championship in Track and Field to Nebraska a few years ago because Nebraska had more third and fourth place finishes yet we went on to win the National championship. I will gladly trade a showdown point or victory or a Big 12 Championship for a National Championship any day.

Plug for a Cayman Islands swimmer Shaune Fraser who won the 200M Free for the Florida Gators who finished fifth as a team. His involvement meant coverage of the swimming championships down here which meant getting first hand news about the Horns great run. Wish day three had been as successful as the first two days but fantastic finish for the Horns.
