I just got the Shure SE 530 and I am hearing things in songs that I have never noticed before.

What are your favorite songs and/or albums to listen to on headphones?

"All Along the Watchtower"- Hendrix (Electric Ladyland has some cool pan effects)

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (the obvious choice)

Yoshi Battles The Pink Robots - Flaming Lips

Lateralus - Tool

"Tangled Up in Blue" - Bob Dylan (Bill Berg's snare and cymbal work is awesome)

"The Boxer"/"Kodachrome - Simon and Garfunkel/Paul Simon (listening to Simon on headphones highlights how great an arranger he is)

"Be My Baby" - Ronettes (amazing how much Phil Spector could squeeze into a song that is only 2 min 41 sec)

A Fistful of Film Music - Ennio Morricone Anthology

"Eleanor Rigby" - Beatles (love the McCartney lead vocal in the right ear and the shift to stereo at the 30 second mark)

soundgarden does some cool things with the stereo mixing.

i love glitchy electronic music on headphones as well b/c it makes it easier to pick up on all the layers.

Albums:
Roger Waters - Amused to Death
Pink Floyd - Animals
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (stereo version)
Steely Dan - Aja
Boston - Boston
Alan Parsons - Turn of a Friendly Card
Supertramp - Breakfast in America
Queen - Night at the Opera
Rush - Permanent Waves
Holst - The Planets
Respighi - Pines of Rome

Songs:
Beatles - Because; Happiness is a Warm Gun; Nowhere Man
Joe Walsh - The Confessor
10cc - Feel the Benefit
Carpenters - Close to You (laugh all you want, I'm a harmony freak, love the way those 4 part harmonies explode at the end...)

I really enjoy dropping some acid and listening to The Moody Blues' "In Search of the Lost Chord" and "On the Threshold of a Dream".

I won't go all electronic on you so I will suggest:

Sugarcubes - Life is Good
New Order - Movement

Several good Pink Floyd records. "Final Cut" is often overlooked but one of my headphone faves.

Mark Knofler's "Sailing to Philadelphia" is one of the best-engineered and best-sounding records of this decade.

"Bookends" by Simon and Garfunkel is pretty amazing.

Those are the first 3 that popped into my mind as records that come alive when they get your undivided attention.
