Setting up a wireless network in my apartment off of Grande High Speed Internet. three questions:

1. I've set up a wifi network before, but never with a password. is it at all difficult to password protect? is it at all difficult for someone else to get around my password?

2. anyone know if there is a big difference in the different grande internet packages? i know they offer several grades of high speed.

3. anyone want to recommend a good wireless PCI card, or should i just stick with this external USB thing i have on my wifi network at home now? the router is 802.11g, my usb device is 802.11b... should i upgrade to G? would i notice a speed increase between having it internal as opposed to a usb external? (for what it's worth, i believe the device is usb 1.0, not 2.0)

thanks in advance.

Setting up a pwd protected wifi network isn't difficult-- typically you are generating random 'keys' or entering a passphrase into your router-- that then generates a series of 'keys' for you-- which you then place onto machines you want to give access to. Different mfg's may have slightly different methods, but I have had no problems setting my machines up with a linksys router, wireless card.

I can only guess that if someone really wants to get into your network- they can. Still- there are so many open networks out there- just having it protected probably puts you ahead of the pack.

Depends on how much "stuff" you want to download.
3 MBPS is pretty damn good, and our speeds do not fluctuate like that other company.
