Saw it tonight and I thought it was great. Sometimes the acting was not great, but overall I thought it was well done and truly enjoyed it.

It seemed very similar to million dollar baby to me. Clint was great and I can usually sit through any of his movies. There was certainly many an actor that I had never seen and may never see again in this movie.

I don't understand all the hype for Clint Eastwood as an actor. Every role he plays, he sounds just like Dirty Harry. He can't act.

I do loves me some GBU, though.

Clint is a guys actor. Most women don't get him and that's ok. There are far more that we don't get and don't care to.

Bounty hunter #1: You're wanted, Wales.

Josey Wales: Reckon I'm right popular. You a bounty hunter?

Bounty hunter #1: A man's got to do something for a living these days.

Josey Wales: Dyin' ain't much of a living, boy.

Clint may not have a wide range as an actor, but I have enjoyed virtually all of the movies he has been in, as well as those he has directed. He is an icon in the industry.

Don't forget the distinguished Cuba Gooding Jr. for Jerry Maguire. Just look at his 'body of work'. Amazing in Daddy Day Care II !

I am a woman and a HUGE Clint Eastwood fan. Ever seen Paint Your Wagon? He sings. Even if he plays similar characters now, he does it well.

Best Clint moment was at the Oscars where he was translating from Italian for Ennio Morricone (Clint is fluent).

However, he has been writing since almost the beginning...and the movies he has directed, have been magnificent, my favorite being The Unforgiven, though Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a close second.

Saw Gran Torino tonight. I agree with most other posters, it was very good. It moved a little slowly at times, but I never was bored.

I believe that the vast majority of Oscar winners could not carry Clint Eastwoods script around the movie lot.

If you read the list of Oscar winners most of the time WTF is the first thought that runs through your head. Sure a whole bunch of actors have caught lightning in a bottle but they cannot sustain their career at that level.

Texanne, if you could go back in time would you find Clint on the night of his biggest casting call? Would you work your womanly corrupting magic on him and make him late for the audition? That way he would not have his career in acting and you get to corrupt yet another person and their dreams. Cotton Bowl for one is another man's Oscar.

Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, 'Rain Man,' look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sho'. Not retarded. You know Tom Hanks, 'Forrest Gump.' Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain't retarded. Peter Sellers, "Being There." Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don't buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, "I Am Sam." Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed...

TAXI DRIVER: That's $2.95 including the luggage.
COOGAN: Tell me... how many stores are there named "Bloomingdales" in this town?
TAXI DRIVER: One. Why?
COOGAN: Well you passed it twice.
TAXI DRIVER: It's still $2.95 including the luggage.
COOGAN: Yeah, well there's $3.00... including the tip.

Very good movie. Though, I thought the guys playing the gang members were horrible actors, especially the one that was supposed to be Tao's cousin. but, i suppose the fact that these were new faces were part of the charm.

Also, kind of funny, we got to the mive about 10 minutes early, and the theater was packed. we had trouble finding two seats together. we finally found a pair, and I commented to the older gentleman next to me about how we thought we got there plenty early, and he said ...

"You gotta remember. This is an Eastwood flick, and us Eastwood fans are getting older. The geriatric crowd is always, always early."

pretty funny, and accurate. we saw a matinee, so that probably added to it, but definitely an older crowd in the theater.
