GPS for Car

I know there was a thread way long ago about some GPS sytems, but thought there might be some newer versions that are better. We are looking at a Garmin nuvi260w. Price right now at Best Buy is $199 and we have a 10% off reward. Also found a 760 for $248. Seems to be the better buy.

Both have what we are looking for (the 760 a few extras that are nice) and have good customer reviews.

Any thoughts or comparisons that we should look at before we buy?

Thanks!

I bought my first GPS device last week from amazon. Garmin Nuvi 270. It includes Europe because I will be traveling in the UK next year.

I think you need to look at the specs of each and see what you need. I didn't need the mp3 player or the larger screen, so I could care less about the 700 series. And while the bluetooth feature might be cool, I didn't really need it. Besides the 270 was $150 cheaper than the 770.

The traffic feature could be cool in large cities, or the lane selector if you frequently travel in unknown areas.

Personally, I just wanted a lightweight, small, cheap model that gets the job done.

IIRC the 260w is one generation behind Garmin's latest although it's still in production. Check out the 255W which is their latest generation and gets great reviews. It's faster, has an improved GUI, and is about the same price. I put one under the tree for my daughter.
