Goodwin

I was watching the presser from Mack and he explained that Goodwin is coming in on a track scholarship. He went on to say that Goodwin can practice with the team on that scholarship but if he plays he counts as a football scholarship. I was not aware of this rule. Am I out of the loop for not knowing about this rule?

Mack was correct. This rule was put in because alot of schools were putting recieivers and backs on a track scholly. This allowed them to have an unfair advantage. Tennessee was particularly fond of putting their WRs on a track schooly when Majors was there.

It is strange rule because it is slanted towards football. What about the guys that have played 2 sports like baseball/football, basketball/football. Do both teams get hit for a scholarship? If so the kid is getting screwed along with the school. He is counting as double the money but only getting one education. If the NCAA does this then the kid should have 4 more years of free school after his eligibility is up.
