Good Travel Agent in Austin

My fiancee hates it. Whenever I have a question that needs answering, Hornfans is the first place Igo. Thanks for making this board a valuable resource.

Anyway, we're looking for a good travel agent in town who can help us book our honeymoon. Hawaii seems to be the destination of choice.

Anyone have any good experiences with local travel agents they care to share?

Cindy Kunkel. I and my father have worked with her for 25+ years.

343-2201

Tell her you got her name from the Casteel's. She's done several Hawaii trips for me and my family. Goes the extra mile with little touches here and there (leis when you get off the plane, etc.)

I have used Becky Theisen at 323-0230 for several trips, but never a Hawaii trip, usually the Caribbean. I usually check around on the internet and she seems to get me good prices, and for whatever reason, the last three trips she's booked for the family we've received room upgrades. Could just be a coincidence.

Wow I actually agree with Texas Horn on something. Cindy Kunkel with Tramex Travel is very good and honest. She got me tickets to Acapulco last year at a good price through a consolidator and was honest enough to tell me that I would be better off to go on Expedia for this year since those fares no longer exist.

recently booked a trip to the Bahamas. Went to 2 different travel agents, then went online and did it myself.

saved about $1000 by doing it myself. Contrary to people's beliefs, travel agents do not get you the best rates. With that said, if you have no time to plan a trip yourself, they can be of help.

I've got plenty of time. Guess I need to establish some Internet fare watchers. Competing with the Internet must really suck if you're in the travel agent business

We saved almost 1000 dollars by dealing with a travel agent, probably best to check with one and on the net. We used Anne at Accent Travel up by the Arboretum for a trip to Jamaica over spring break. I would highly recommend her.

I've had it happen both ways. You can find a real steal on the internet but sometimes a travel agent can find thigns that you can't.

I'd talk to a travel agent but also look around on the net too. There are tons of resources on the net all claiming the lowest fares so be careful and don't spend all your time on one site.

I've always used the travel agency in the arboretum that was mentioned earlier when talking to an agent. Sometimes I've been able to find better deals and went with the net, but sometimes they've given me the best price.
