Fans of Dot's Place have something to be excited about. The restaurant famous for its Southern home cooking is reopening Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for the lunch crowd.
Dot's new location is in the Windermere Shopping Center in Pflugerville near FM 1825 and Pecan Street.
Owner Dot Hewitt opened the restaurant in 1980, but it was destroyed by
fire in 2004.
Loyal customers followed Dot’s Place to two temporary locations for a taste of her liver and onions, fried fish and sweet potato pie. They'll no doubt show up Tuesday, so it could be a little crowded.
“[There’s] always a line, hopefully it'll be a line again coming
through. Just be patient, we'll get you fed, but everybody share a table with your neighbor. That's how you meet nice people," Dot's daughter Jerrie Burns said.
Hewitt did not have insurance at the time of the fire, so fundraisers
and donations helped her open the new restaurant.
Ben's Longbranch Bar BQ on East 11th has Soul Food Wednesday where he has a few southern specialities with the appropriate sides availabe for consumption along with his regular BBQ menu.
