Good place to watch meteor showers?

Just heard on the news that there will be some meteor showers through the next couple of days, with tomorrow being the best chance to see them. Anyone know of any good spots to check them out, that aren't too far out of the way?

It would be out of the way, but I always thought it would be cool to go out to the old tunnel near Fredericksburg and watch the bats, then stick around for the meteor show. It has to have just about the blackest night sky in central Texas.

Whenever something goes on in the sky I head out on 290 towards Manor. Go out about 5 or so miles from Austin and it gets really dark on those side roads. Some of them on the North side of the Hwy. have spots for your car that reduce the chance of getting hit. You will find others out there too but nobody messes w/ ya...at least not me so far. Good viewing.

My front yard. We're out enough in the sticks that we get awesome night sky, except to the north.

Mikey tired....managed to stay up till 12:30, just before I retired, there were 2 niiice streamers, from way north to way south. They followed the same track,so that was cool.
