Looking to go somewhere this weekend with the new chick. She loves seafood and we both live in the Clear Lake area. I don't mind driving but would prefer to stay closer to home.

Casual dress / willing to spend around $100 on dinner.

Rip - I knew you might throw that out.. but she eats there for luch sometimes. I wanted to try something different. I'll keep it in mind though.

carrera - we both in the Clear Lake area.. just outside of Houston. Where are the places at that you mentioned ?

those are a little out of the way.. not that I mind driving but was just looking for something close.

Thanks for the info carrera

Rip, that place just isn't the same since they lost their chef.

I have never had a bad dish at Rockfish, Papadeaux, or Joe's. Joe's is very noisy & gimmicky but they have great specials. Rockfish is nicer than Joe's but still a bit gimicky. Papadeaux is the nicest of the 3 & the most expensive. They have the best shrimp creole I have ever eaten.

I had someone else recommend Papadeaux's to me... one reason was it wasn't owned by Fertita. I personally could care less if it's good.

Looks like it's gonna be a toss up between Tommy's and Papadeaux's.. both are within just a few minutes of us and right on the money.

I got you covered Brutha!

Try Outriggers- It is right on the channel and is better than most of the corporate offerings. I had the exact same question back in the Fall and got this tip from other Hornfans folks.

here is a review with the address info The Link here is a link to my reviewThe Link

It was a great locals sort of hang out. My first Jack and Coke was a little light on the jack so I told the waiter to give the bartender these $2 and keep them coming in a tall glass. All the food was good, the Calimari was nice with a cool tequila lime dipping sauce that all my group liked.

I guarantee you that you will go back again and again if you are a local to the area as it really was good. I would go a little early to get a good outdoor seat to see the boats cruise by.

You exit right before going over the bridge to the boardwalk and you can see the building right in front of you on the water. You have to take a left and wind around to the front of the restaurant.

Did Fertitta close Jimmy Walkers in Kemah when he bought everything south of Downtown? I haven't been there in 10 years or so, but remember it having a nice view and good seafood.

I work in Galveston and don't want to come all the way back down here to eat. I'm gonna stay the Clear Lake / Houston area. Besides , we're supposed to meet Rip and 5280 out for drinks afterwards.

I'm leaning towards Tommy's right now.

I'll give you a vote for Pappadeux. Sure it's a chain, but every time I go there I'm surprised how good the place is. If you want something different than the regular, try the Pasta Mardi Gras there. It's huge w/ sausage shrimp and all kinds of other good **** I can't remember.
