Good Lord, Do we not know how to run a zone

This is ridiculous. They are shredding our man defense with unbelievably poor ball handlers and slow big men. Run a ******* zone and make them hit from the outside.

Man Barnes get stubborn at times.

We've ridden a man-to-man defense virtually all season, and it has carried us to a 23-3 start and a No.2 ranking, not to mention the top-rated defense in the country.

I can't watch the game, but sometimes the other team executes and makes its shots. Let's not overreact.

Really, they seem to have adjusted against one of the top defenses in the country. I guess there are no game time adjustments to be made.

Yeah, it's overreacting, with 10 minutes to go in the second half, down by 8. We got them right where we want them.

Man I hope Nebraska forgets to pound the inside.

It's overreacting because it's one game, not a trend.

Again, I can't see the action, but from the box score, it looks like Nebraska is making its shots and we are not. Ham alone is 2 of 12 from the floor.

We're also being outrebounded by a team that ranks 155 spots lower than us in boards per game.

Slow down there. DiamondJim has it all figured out. 5:00 minutes to go and any minute the double secret game plan will come out.

Yeah, that's it.

I forget--everyone here knows better than the coaches and the players, especially when the team is having a tough day on the road against a motivated opponent. We should never lose, and if the coaches only knew as much as the folks here at Hornfans, we never would.

The dribble weave is designed to get the interior men to roll behind the dribble. Lanes are opened at the top of the key and if you noticed their 1 and 2 got deep on each drive. It is a combination of both and had we gone to the Syracuse zone that Barnes knows very well. You are forcing them to dribble into the zone or swing the ball around the perimeter to get an open look.

Based on Nebraska's talent level, I would have gone zone as soon as Jeter began to heat up.

In short, our bigs were out of position but it starts with the fact that a man defense is going to be chasing the ball against the weave.

This reminds me of the threads when Duke fans complain that Coach K doesn't adjust......No coach is perfect. Deal with it. We almost won the game with our best player shooting 3-16. At the beginning of the year, we knew we were undersized and thank goodness Matt Hill and Lexi have helped this year on the boards. This isn't a perfect team. Teams with lots of size are going to give us problems. It happens.

Like quite a few others, I am chagrined at Barnes' rigidity in not at least trying a zone. Do we not even have one in our playbook? Their dribble weave did us in. We nearly made up for it with talent and a flare up of nerves on their part, but not in the end. When you're flat getting killed over and over doing one thing, is it that hard to try something else? What's to lose? I don't buy that they "wanted it more." I think they figured out how to attack the basket in a way we couldn't defend in our man defense and with players smaller than theirs.

They weren't exactly just "off", they weren't playing well and there were reasons we were missing so many shots.
