Good date place between Houston and Galveston?

So I am taking out a girl and I'm going to suggest we meet somewhere between Houston and Galveston (she's there, i'm here...). I know there is Clear Lake, League City, and all those small towns in between off of 45, but I don't know anything about them or what is there.

Where's a good place to go for a first date with a girl? I was thinking maybe going to Kemah, I figure there are restaurants there and maybe stuff to do afterwards (?).

Some suggestions would be good. It'll be a week night too...

So the Kemah Boardwalk is pretty cheesy in my opinion. If that's your thing, then go for it. I live down here, but I've only been to the Boardwalk once. Suffice to say, it didn't really seem like much of a date place to me. Too many kids and teenagers running around. It might be different on a week night though. That said, it might be your best bet, because there's a lot of stuff to do there.

As far as restaurants go, I would recommend the Sundance Grill. The food there is excellent; the crab cakes are amazing. I would definitely ask if they have a band playing. Then ask to sit as far away from the band as possible, as the music is always too loud. Another place I would recommend is the Italian Cafe. It's a really cool little Italian joint. It's BYOW (bring your own wine), so it will save you a little cash. There's actually a bunch of good restaurants in that area, but those are the two that I've found to be the best "date places".

After dinner, it really depends. There are a bunch of bars in the Kemah area (not on the Boardwalk), but they are usually pretty dead on week days. That can be good or bad. There are also a bunch of bars around the intersection of Nasa and El Camino. I wouldn't really consider any of those good for taking a date to. There's a really awesome wine bar in the South Shore Harbor resort area. Thursday night is half price night. They usually have a piano sing along thing that's pretty fun as well.

I would pick Kemah if you're idea of the bestest movie ever is Titanic and your favorite food is a bloomin' onion.

Trust me - Frenchie's Villa Capri. Nasa rd one on the lake. Great atmosphere, awesome food. Italian/seafood. You can eat there, then go to Kemah to walk around / ride the rollercoaster, etc.... Dont eat at kemah. Much better food options elsewhere. If you really want to class it up go to Tookies and order the double ice house special and onion rings.

Above poster recommended Italian cafe - fyi its in a strip center... decent food, but you can do better.

Outriggers is a great place, that is a local's joint that blows away the fare of the Kemah boardwalk. The>The Link Link

not high end fancy, but if she can't have a good time here you need to find a new girl...

If you really want to put her to the test, take her to the Bayview Duck.

It is probably the world's only trailer park English pub. The male half of the husband and wife owners reminded me of Lurch.

It's in Bacliff, about a mile towards San Leon south of Kemah on the right side of 146.

I've lived in Clear Lake all my life. Frenchy's is just AVERAGE imo. Sundance Grill unpredictable .... good sometimes, others not. My recommendation is Perry's Italian Grille in Clear Lake. Nice atmosphere, white tablecloths, but casual and not stuffy. A little on the pricey side. The link is listed below. No prices listed, but lunch is cheaper than dinner (of course). I would say average price of a meal is about $15?? Take I-45 South, exit Friendswood/Clear Lake City Blvd. exit off of I-45. Follow CLC Blvd. to the light at El Camino Real and turn right. Perry's Italian is located in the shopping center on your left at the intersection of El Camino and Pineloch. You might want to check out some of the online review of the place too.
