Good Blender?

Our old trusty blender finally bit the bullet...Went to BB&B and bought a new KRUPS blender with a 1000 watt motor, one of the biggest they had. This thing royally sucks, it will not completely blend anything, from smoothies to margaritas, there are still huge chunks of ice no matter how long it is blended and stirred...I am looking for something that works, any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,

Buy a handheld blender. For the items you mentioned making, it works the best. I have a Braun 5550. 400 watts of bad *** power.

I have a Villaware Moderno Pro and it's 1000W of awesome blending power. Unfortunately, it's been discontinued, but is still readily available for under $150.

Oster Classic Beehive Blender. Three speeds - on, pulse and off. All-metal construction and cheap as heck (so if it breaks, you can buy another one)

Been using mine for 11 years and its still purring.

Just about any professional/bar grade blender should do the trick. Also, the Braun Powermax MX2050 was CR's best buy FWIW.

Appreciate all of the suggestions, the BlendTec would be awesome if I had a spare $400 laying around, other than that I will look into the Waring Commercial.....

I have that blender, DeadHead, and it sucks ***.

I use mine mainly for protein shakes where I mix powder, water (sometimes juice) and frozen fruit. It takes me 5-8 minutes to blend, shut down to stir out air pocket and repeat. It's a real beating making my post workout shake when I'm dead-armed and sweaty.

I clicked on this thread b/c I'm going to get a new one this weekend.

I used to churn through cheap blenders every couple of months until I bought a Kitchenaid Pro-Line with the big metallic base, with a stainless steel container. This thing is awesome. It was pricy, but it actually can handle ice and frozen things and such without self-destructing.

We got this blender as a wedding gift. it's AWESOME! It's got two speeds-- high and low, and has no trouble blowing through ice to make margaritas. Good price too. Can't say enough about how this blender rocks!
