Golf coverage: ESPN sucks

surprise, surprise, yeah I know, I shouldn't be surprised.

British open today, can't remember when, had to be early afternoon,

They talk about and show Nick Faldo for 40 minutes, and even admit it(I forget which dimwit announcer admitted it), while practically ignoring Daly and Tiger. Faldo was 7 over at the time when the lovefest started, and ended at around 9 or ten over. He wasn't gonna make the cut, at any time during the 40 minute lovefest. And it gets worse, while the lovefest is going on, they show some no-name golfer who is 14 over. I kid you not, they show him making a tee shot!!!!

Yuck. at least the ESPN version is over now??

1) It's golf
2) it is early rounds
3) EPSN is referring to the history of the game, which I like (see their attention to Tom Watson today)
4) It's golf
5) I don't give a rip about Tiger or Daley, and neither is really 'in it' anyway.
6) They should be talking more about this S. African kid and world Cup, and all that stuff.

it's getting worse, so bad I started watching the clock. From 7:30 to 8:00 a.m.(just now), they showed 7 minutes and 30 seconds of live golf. During the first fifteen minutes it was a grand total of 2 minutes of golf and they stepped it bigtime the last fifteen!!!

And the commercial breaks are not bad at all!!

Now I'm guessing there must be a reason for this b.s. A couple of thoughts occured to me.

1. Sharing camera time with BBC? Could there be a rule that between the two companies, there can only be a certain amount of airtime of actual golf coverage?

or

2. ESPN is just too dumb to realize people who tune in at 7:00 a.m. really want to see live golf???
