Golf Courses up North

Looking to play some golf this Saturday in the Round Rock / Pflugerville area. Any good suggestions for a course in the $40 range? So far was looking at Shadow Glen, Blackhawk, or Forest Creek. Also open to other ideas. Thanks.

avoid Blackhawk

Nicest public course is Teravista (just south of round rock). Forest Creek is solid and relatively difficult (in round rock). Star Ranch is a good course that can get wndy as hell (in Hutto but near Forest Creek). Shadow Glen is in good shape but is in Manor, which is southeast of Round Rock.

Check out Golf512.com. They should have deals for all of the above courses.

another option West of Round Rock is Avery Ranch. Same quality as above courses but a little further away (west of 620 off of Parmer)

Avery Ranch (NW Austin)
Terravista (Round Rock)
Star Ranch (Hutto/Pflugerville)
Forest Creek (Round Rock)
Shadow Canyon (Manor)
Sun City (2 Course) (Georgetown)
Crystal Falls (Leander)

Ranked by my personal opinion. Avery and Terravista will probably be over $50 but worth it. I have really started to like Star Ranch but is windy. Forest Creek had just re-done thier bunkers last time I played there and they were great. The whole course looked good. Shadow Canyon gives me fits but its OK for the money. Sun City courses are underrated in my opinion. I played Legacy Hills Friday and it was in damn good shape. I haven't played Crystall Falls in a while but I am sure its still a phenomenal bargain, but its usually crowded on Saturdays. I'd much rather pay $50 and play at my own pace than pay $30 and wait around between every shot. As others have mentioned, stay far away from Blackhawk. It was horrible watching that course start out so promising only to have it turn into a ********.
