I am enjoying a bloody mary right now at DFW. Soon I will be on a plane to Denver, and then on to LA. Tonight, I am seeing James at the El Rey Theater. I love this band. Anyone else remember their greatness?

Tomorrow, it's back to Denver for the Horns. This weekend is going to kick ***.

I'm fuckin jealous. Saw James in 1994. They are great and Tim Booth is an awesome front man.

Please update this thread afterward.

i listened to the "laid" disc all the time back in '94... then inexplicably stopped...

let us know...

Slight delay in Denver, but we are boarding now so I'm OK. I was supposed to see them last week in Minneapolis, but Ike forced me to postpone (I don't miss UT games for anything).

This may well be the most expensive concert I have ever attended. The great irony is that the ticket itself was only $25...

I love James and all Manchester bands. I saw them at Lollapalooza in 1997. Booth had a wirless microphone and walked out to the lawn section at the Starplex Amphitheater.

Lose Control and Sit Down are great from their self-titled album.

I recently flew to Chicago just to see My Bloody Valentine. I had to buy the tickets off Stubhub at a premium and then buy a flight to Chicago. So that's my most expensive show. I've always wanted to go to one of the British festivals. One of those would break $1,000. I guess you could smooth the cost over multiple bands though.

New York and LA almost always get British touring acts. San Francisco, Chicago, and Seattle/Vancouver seem to be the next cities. I can't complain though - Austin gets loads of great acts through regular tours, ACL, and SXSW.

I'm glad I'm not the only person on here who flew to Los Angeles today just to see a 90s band (in my case, My Bloody Valentine).

Geez guys, just say something, anything.

I would fly to LA for MBV too if I had the chance and knew they were playing. Saw James in D.C. twice, last time in 94 as well. Full update, please.

I was just talking to my coworker about James today. I had never heard of them. Listening to them now... LOVE them!!!

Well MaxHorn, how 'bout an update?

Looking forward to the Diamondbag show as well. I don't suppose y'all will cover any James tunes?

Last night was one of the best nights of my life. We were about 10 feet back, front and center. I cannot understand why James are not huge-- they are THAT good.

They did not play "Tomorrow" or "She's a Star," but they played everything else. At the end of "Sometimes" (2nd song of the encore), the crowd sang the "sometimes I look in your eyes and can see your soul" for 5 solid minutes while the band just stood there and watched in amazement. It was the single greatest concert moment I have ever experienced, and I have seen everyone. I'm just happy that James is now on that list.

They said they'll be back in America in February, and hopefull there will be dates in Texas. if not, I will be flying somewhere to see them again.

I forgot to add-- after the show, we went to Toluca Lake and ate at the original Bob's Big Boy. Nothing like a Big Boy Combo at 2 am after a great concert! And now, off to Denver for a weekend of Longhorn fun...

And who knows, UTEE? Maybe we'll slip "Ring the Bells" into our set next week!

Damn, I didn't realize they were still playing. Saw them in 94 or 95 at an outdoor show in Atlanta. They were incredible. What a great band.

This bed is on fire with passionate love, the neighbors complain about the noises above, but she only comes when she's on top.
