Going to NYC - Advice?

I'm going to be going to NYC later this month and would like advice on things to do in these 3 days. I'm planning to do the following:

WTC Memorial
Times Square
Central Park
Wall Street
Broadway shows - Probably Wicked and Grease
Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty (if time allows)

I know I'm trying to fit a lot into 3 days but thats the way it goes. I'm going because my wife will be there for work so the hotel is already paid for.

You can do the WTC, Statue of Liberty and Wall Street all in one day, possibly one afternoon. While you're in lower Manhattan, you can check out the South Street Seaport, Soho, Chinatown, LES, Little Italy and SoHo.

The next day you can fit an afternoon at Central Park and an evening at Times Square and a Broadway Show. Maybe take the morning to do Rockafeller Center or the Empire State building.

Is this your first time to New York? If so, and you're only here for three days, I would suggest just getting a map and heading out on foot. Just soak it in between the so called 'tourist' stops.

What are your interests and I can probably point you to more specific places. And I'm sure other posters have more suggestions too.

The girlfriend and I went to NYC last May. It was the first trip for both of us, and we were going there for a conference for her job, so we really only had 2 nights to fit everything we wanted to do.

We got to the hotel probably around 5 or 6 on Monday night, and took off immediately on the subway for the WTC site. Grabbed a slice of pizza from the place right by there, walked around for a bit, and then walked down to Battery Park and took the Staten Island Ferry, which goes right by the Statue of LIberty (and gives you a great view of Manhattan). Took the ferry back to Manhattan, took the subway back up to Midtown, walked to the Empire State Building and took that tour. We didn't get back to the hotel until around 12 or 1, but the Empire State Building tour took a LONG time. You can do the WTC and Statue of LIberty in a couple of hours, easily (if you don't want to actually go to Ellis Island).

The next day, after her conference ended around 4, we went to Central Park, walked around there for a little while (my favorite part of the trip), walked down 5th Avenue, walked by the Fox News studios, Rockefeller plaza, and then came back by Times Square. That also didn't take much time at all, probably around 4-5 hours (it was threatening rain, or we would have stayed around later).

So it's definitely doable to squeeze a lot of things into a few days, as long as you learn the subway maps and all that.

Have fun, I can't wait to go back and get to do all the things I missed this time around.

It's your last chance to take in a game at Yankee Stadium before it meets the wrecking ball.
