Going to Buenos Aires

Heading there this December for 10 days. I know several people who post regularly have visited, if they aren't living there. My question is this - should the girlfriend and I stay in Recoleta or Palermo?

Either one works -- will post more details. We stayed between the two on Santa Fe. Napoleaon lives there. Great time. Make sure to wrap over a Sunday for Boca Juniors @ Bombanero.

I will be sending you a laundry list of things to bring down for me before leave. I don't think that I'm going home for Christmas this year, so I'll need some essentials.
Recoleta vs. Palermo

1) How old are you?

2) What do you like?

Recoleta has more parks, it's quieter, it's close to the cemetery (Evita y otros estan alla) and the park near it (Plaza Francia). Safer. Cleaner. Prostitute bars galore!

Palermo... I'm guessing that you mean "Palermo Viejo" (either the "Soho" part or the "Hollywood" part), because these days nearly half of the town has turned into "Palermo --------". More boutique shops, more bars, more restaurants specializing in food with flavor, a little better people watching, clubs as well. More boutique hotels. Not as clean. Still pretty safe.

Cab rides from one area to the other will cost about US$5 to US$7 and will take between ~10 minutes (plus or minus depending on total distance and time of day).

If you know LA, I'd compare it like this:

Recoleta = Beverly Hills

Palermo Viejo (Soho & Hollywood) = Hollywood/ WeHo/ Venice

Palermo for 26yr olds,

get the TimeOut BA guide for some good updated material on local night spots, also check with the California Burrito guys down there- 2 locations, one of the founders did hs MBA at Texas and will be happy to recommend local places for you. Ask for Mike.

The CBC website doesn't mention a "new location". But then again, I think that the 3 guys might have had a bit of a falling out with each other. (Or at least one of them with the other two.) A friend knows one well and said "Don't go to CBC, because my friend is an ex-partner who's suing..." Who knows?
But if there is a 2nd one, then maybe it's the other guy's place and it probably has a different name, because "Guia Oleo" (the online customer review website of restaurants in BsAs) only lists 1 location for CBC. The Link

PS- Use Guia Oleo
(a.k.a. simply "Oleo") for ratings and reviews of any restaurant you're considering.

We funded a total of 4 CBC's; two of which have opened so far. There was a management shuffle but not among co-founders, being an early employee does not mean co-founder.

All this talk about BsAs is driving me crazy. I need to close two monster deals and I'm booking another trip...

Today I...
-taught a little English (not much)
-took 2 naps
-played soccer (we won 8-6)
-got home at 1:15am after eating pizza with some friends post soccer

I've got two different friends (one traveling with another friend, and the other a neighbor I grew up with) visiting me this weekend.

I feel like I'm in a really laid back/ backwards part of the US with a little more Spanish than LA, but a fraction of the flavor in the food.

If you want some nice pics, here are a couple of mine around sunset. (They're cropped, but they're not Photoshopped.)

I am beyond excited. We booked a place on Av Santa Fe - I forget the cross street - apparently it's square in the middle of the gayborhood.

And I showed the GF the CBC website. After reading the LA Times article they have on there, she realized she knows the owner.

Sweet Jesus covered in chocolate, I'm excited!!

Congratulations on booking your trip. You'll have to pace yourself with the beef, because you WILL overload on it. (I just had dinner with a couple of friends on Sunday night and that was their 4th night and they were already ready for a break... we ate Moroccan.)

As the weeks tick off, feel free to ask any questions that you may have. (I'm actually studying to give tours of the city as well as the history of Tango, Tigre, Immigration, the Gauchos...) I often know more about things that many porteños.

But I will say, if you want to try the new Starbucks on the corner of Callao & Viamonte, you better hurry up. Because the line has already started:
