Although I am kind of sad, because I am leaving some great colleagues behind. But when the difference between what your pension would be and your actual salary is only about $20K you really question what you are doing hanging 'round! Then add to that the fact that hubby's company was just sold and he will get a nice severance and has new possibilities already cooking - well to quote an oldie from Davy, Mike, Peter and Mickey "What Am I Doin' Hangin' 'Round?"

28 X 2.3 = 64.4, you're grandfathered so you get to use 64.4% of your average of your last best 3 years of salary.

I trust you taught summer school the last three years.

that's an awesome retirement check, especially for someone who could be as young as 50.

Congrats!!! I retired after 30 years. I miss the kids, but now have another career in sales and love it, too! Enjoy your retirement!!

that's going to be the best feeling in the world walking out on that last day. I wouldn't even clean out your classroom, just turn in the final grades, and walk out.

I lasted one year. I knew I was one-and-done by Christmas.
