Going forward

Ok so things haven't gone according to plan. So be it. Now let's get on with it.

I really think the horns have hit bottom. These guys have gone through a lot of adversity together and I have a feeling they realize enough is enough and it's time to get back to playing the game they love with joy and enthusiasm. The weight of expectation is gone. Now pride is on the line and hopefully they'll arise out of this last battle bound to each other.

The tangible thing they lost in losing to A&M was a first round bye in B12 Tournament. But, I think the extra rest a bye gives you is not very useful to the horns anyway because what these guys need more than anything else is more playing time together.

I do think the light is coming on -- (although it wasn't on enough to deal with the situation they faced at Reed yesterday). Now it's time to move forward and stop feeling sorry for themselves. Leave that **** in the past. They need to except where they are and start moving toward where they want to be. I can guarantee you things are going to look a lot better if we take down the formidable Baylor bears next week in Waco. It can happen, Let's get it started and focus in on defending our home court against OU.

agree, need more time, but it's probably not gonna happen against Baylor. Three games in three days in a tourney would be fantastic. Even two games would be good. This team could easily go one and done in the B12 tourney.

Sorry, but what in the world did you see yesterday that gives you the impression that the light went on? We reverted back to the same team that has struggled for the last couple months.

1, Pittman taking himself out fo the game with early fouls.
2. Lack of movement on offense.
3. Sporadic play (and I'm being generous here) by the freshman.
4. Failure to get back on fast breaks.
5. Outhustled on the defensive glass allowing too many second shots.
6. Too much one-on-one offense instead of good ball movement and team play.
7. Horrible offense for the first 10 minutes of the game, so we are fighting the rest of the way just to keep things respectable
....

Do I have to go on?

The Horn Identity....
You pretty much nailed it. This team knows that they have
problems --- individual goals vs. team goals, guys that think
they are the next T.J. or Kevin, heading off to the riches of
the league, not listening to the coach (and Barnes obliquely
admits as much), so this season is in the tank. It looks as if
#5 is disgusted and has quit. Mason still tries but his ability
doesn't match his guts, and Dex needs to get his degree and
work on what comes next in the business world.
The REAL problem is coming next year. This group of prima
donnas is going to be vying for DA MAN, rather than putting
a team together. I fear that we are on a somewhat downward spiral --- not bad, but certainly not good.
Hamilton appears to only occasionally trying to be a team
player and as soon as he passes off twice he feels that
it is o.k. to jack it up. I am not optimistic about the future.
Bring on baseball.

The Link

Check this link out may clear up some of your thoughts. All the points above by THI are areas covered by coaching the players up.
I hope baseball is a strong point.

I feel better about Hamilton than Brown at this point. I've never seen Bradley look like a guy who wasn't a team player, but it isn't the sophmores to be that have me worried about next year.

My question is whether anyone else on the roster besides Johnson will contribute anything. I have seen nothing from Lucas, Wangmene, Hill or Chapman that give me confidence about them stepping in for those graduating. I didn't see enough from Ward to have a good grasp about what he might be able to do, even if he comes back from his injury without setback. Ditto Williams. Balbay is a known commodity. Texas currently has a recruiting class of one.

2010-11 may be a very trying year.

The team has no where near figured anything out at this point. I think most of them have given up (except Gary Johnson). It's as Barnes said...embarrassing. And I'm pretty depressed because next year doesn't look great and based on this years' huge bust of a season...what kind of recruiting can we expect? Wish it didn't seem so bleak to me.
