Godzillatron News, etc

I hope it isn't ads, either, but burnt orange with a big white swoosh would actually look pretty cool.

My guess is if it is advertising, it will be some big ugly Academy ad or a big Taco Bell or something.

but, but, who would that BIG *** LONGHORN be brought to you by? It cannot travel or exist on it's own. Can it?

I doubt it will have an ad, and here's why: Bellmont has previously expressed pride that DKR-TMS has no permanent advertising on it. Yes, when you pipe electricity, the ads pop up everywhere, but nothing is permanent.

Not many stadiums can tout that.

I would rather have 1,000 silent billboards permanently attached to the stadium than to listen to any more audio advertising blaring from Adzillitron. That POS sucks the life right out of the stadium at every time out.

I e-mailed DeLoss about it and he replied....

Mr. Dodds,

I am writing in response to the article in the Austin-American Statesmen about the upcoming improvements to DKR- Texas Memorial Stadium. I am wondering if the plan to cover the back of the Video Board will consist of more ads, or if it will simply be something like a Burnt Orange background with a white Horn in the middle.

I am just curious because while I know that more ads = more revenue for the program, I am also aware that Texas is the most marketable brand in college sports. That being said, please do not over look your own product when you make a decision to sell advertising space. You have a great opportunity to use this space to market Texas Football.

Please, we do not want to see a Nike "Swoosh" or a State Farm logo on the back of the Largest HD screen in college sports.

Let's show some pride and let people know that "We're Texas!"

All this wailing and gnashing of teeth reminds me of the douche-bag who sits a couple rows in front of us in Section 31 and complained to everyone within earshot last season because the players were warming up to rap music instead of something he wanted to hear, "like The Killers."
Clue: it ain't always about you
