GO SPURS GO!!!!

No Ginobili for game 1. Probably a smart decision even though SA is struggling right now. Duncan looks as good as he has at any other point in the past few years - I think people forget his numbers aren't down due as much due to declining skills as due to declining minutes. He could still be a 22/12 guy, but what would the point of having him play 45 minutes a game?

The 'ol Hornfans jinx rears it's ugly head.

Way to go salonghorn!

Spurs do not play good defense and they live and die by 3 pointers. I am a Spurs fan but I like Memphis in this series, hope I am wrong.

Really, the major negative on the stat sheet is missing 11, count 'em, 11 free throws. Make 5 or 6 and the Spurs win going away.

Meanwhile, Memphis missed 12 free throws, including quite a few within the last couple minutes of the game, allowing the Spurs to come back and take the lead temporarily at 96-94.

Face it, Grizzlies did the best they could to choke away the game, but the Spurs would have been extremely lucky to win yesterday. The score was the correct one, and I'm starting to think that the Grizzlies have a chance.

Didn't' watch the entire game, but one thing that did stand out in what I saw was the relative ease with which the Grizzlies scored inside. I think that was a bigger factor than the free throws.

Officials for tonight's game are Scott Foster, Ron Garretson, and Leon Wood. Only really weak one is Leon. At least there is no Bavetta or Joey Crawford.

Gasol and Randolph are more bothersome than most would have anticipated. They're tough, skilled, youthful and play well together, and it's clear that Blair and McDyess can't hang, leaving Duncan to handle the paint alone.

I'm keeping a close eye on this series for the potential Rd. 2 matchup with the Thunder. The Grizzlies would give OKC fits, I think. Memphis was 3-1 versus the Thunder in the regular season because of the matchup difficulty. I don't think the two have played since the Perkins trade, however.

The Spurs often seem to lose game 1 of their first-round series and then go on to win the series in 5 or 6, so I'm only just now slightly-worried. Still not too worried, as you don't exactly expect Jefferson and Hill to miss open 3-pointers at the end of a game while Zack Randolph nails one, but the Spurs' definitely aren't the defensive powerhouse they used to be and that's definitely a bad sign for future rounds even if they win the next 3 games in blowout fashion.

I am wondering what the Spurs move will be this offseason. They clearly need to go after a free agent and go younger.

Spurs come out shooting better tonight, but their defense still has too many breakdowns and then there's those J'Covan Brown type passes ...*sigh*.

How about turn out the lights on all of the "old Spurs" jokes- 5 teams are older including Boston and LA.

I am keeping the dream alive too- win in Memphis- and you take a lot of momentum back to a home crowd. I just think winning game 6 is a tall order.. we'll see.

Live to fight another day!!! Lets see how Memphis handles the pressure at home. You know the last thing they want is a return to the Alamo City. This series feels like the New Orleans series a few years back. Spurs got blasted in several games but eeked out one win in New Orleans. I sure hope it ends the same way!
