My daughter reads this board and will, I’m sure, thank me for sharing. Probably REALLY thank me if she ever manages to successfully get her user account set up…..
In 1997 my youngest daughter was in 1st grade. Texas played Notre Dame in Austin on St Patrick ’s Day in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. We had some long time Texas fans sitting behind us wearing some green and my daughter whispered to me during the game, just loud enough for them to hear, that I should be careful because there were some Irish people behind us…..Texas lost one of the better WBB games I have ever seen, 83-86.
The next day, (or school-day, I don’t remember now), her mother got a call from the school principle. She was in trouble for refusing to participate in PE. A quick conversation with my daughter to ask why got the answer – “They are playing IRISH games!” Her mother told the principle to just punish her in whatever way they thought was appropriate because she simply was not going to do what they wanted.
14 years later she still hates the Irish.
Personally – my messed up bracket has them losing the NC game to Stanford….Go Irish!
