Go Huskers! Beat the Tigers!

So I'm having a Friday afternoon daydream, and allowing myself to think about the possibilities of a Big 12 Championship this year. Not so much in terms of "can we do it?", but more along the lines of "what would it take?". One of the things I really would not like to have to do is beat Missouri twice. The only way around it is for the Tigers to not win the North.

In looking at their schedule, this game at Nebraska sure would be a nice one for them to lose. We'll give them one loss, but they need to pick up another along the way somewhere.

Go Huskers!

ok, resume focusedness.

Have to disagree with you here. Normally I'll pull for the Huskers in intradivision games, but a Missouri loss here would hurt us not only in the polls (whether we win or lose to them) but also in the computers. I have to go against my instincts this time and say Go Tigers.

I understand what you are saying, but I would rather beat Mizzu while they are unbeaten and highly ranked. They can lose again later or I'd rather beat them again, only worse.
We need to win 'um all, so why worry. JMO.

I would love to see the Huskers pull off the upset. I think they can put some points on Missouri but not enough for the win.

I'm gonna agree with the OP on this one. It doesn't matter with the polls. If any team out of the big 12 is undefeated and does not get a spot in the national championship game, i think the big 12 would have to withdraw from the BCS because it would be a travesty

Go Tigers!

If they are undefeated and after we beat CU and then Blow U, 100K will pack DKR with millions watching the tube for the biggest ESPN College Game Day of the year. When we then take them down this top 1,2 or 3 team and their # Heisman contender, we'll rocket forward in recruiting, respect and possibly even in the polls.

Much bigger event for UT if both stay undefeated. If we ...... lose (ouch) to the dirtburglars, then we regain some respect by beating an undefeated Mizzou team that is ranked in the top 4.

I wasn't going to bring this up, but since the topic has already started....

I want this one oh, so very badly. Mainly to shut up the obnoxious Mizzou jackasses who will invade Lincoln en masse tonight and tomorrow, ala Santa Anna at the Alamo.

Many of my friends who went to CoMo last year for that game will never go back. It WAS that bad. Mizzou fans were classless enough to get a sign that said "SALT" on television late in the fourth Q last year, after the game was already out of reach. Players have talked about how cups of urine were dumped on them at the game last year, and how they were cussed at in the tunnel. And they've been flapping their gums on numerous boards all winter and summer.

Oh, I want this one oh so very badly.

We are badly outnumbered, but in the words of the great William Barrett Travis, "I shall never surrender or retreat."

We are badly outnumbered. But it's one game. Anything can happen.

Onward rode the Six Hundred...

So do you dislike Tiger fans or Buff fans more? My NU friends say that Buff fans are the absolute worst.

HNK- I feel your pain, but as a Longhorn fan, I must hope for the first and only loss for our opponents to be Texas, with the exception of aggy. I'm willing to root for Baylor, because it is a lost cause, but would be hilarious if it were to happen. But will be hoping that a win by Mizzou will only be a squeaker, keeping them in the top ten.

I would happily take NU, ISU, and KU in the South if we could send up the Land Thieves, Ags, and Sand Ags.

'Cept I'm afraid Mangino might count for 2 teams.

In reply to:

"Just like it's my right to say this - and some on this board may scoff at me for this. If we win tomorrow, it would mean more to me than ANY win over Texas in ANY sport"

Wow, I say. I am one of those who "scoff" after that statement. You would rather beat #4 Mizzou '08 than UT anytime in the past in any sport.... if so, sir, your bounds of hatred for Mizzou & it's fans knows no bounds

Husker, remind them to act like they have been there before (there being a winning program in the top 5)..then fade to..."oh yeah, you haven't".

In reply to:

"Plus, Chase Daniel comes off as someone who thinks his crap doesn't stink."

Your right, he is an arrogant sumbitch

I respect Nebraska much, much more than I do the Tigers. You don't suck that long while caring, and Mizzou should be ashamed of putting uncompetitive teams out there all these years.

Mizzou has done hardly anything in terms of conference championships... I believe they are dead last, with Kansas State trying to keep pace. Nebraska's commitment to their athletics is 2nd to none, and though we've seemed to have their number since the Big 12 inception, I'd love to see them return to elite status.

A strong Nebraska legitimizes our conference, and if they would have continued to be a 9+ win team since the early Solich years, there would be less doubt as to whether or not the Big 12 reigns supreme over all others.

I am glad to see Mizzou doing well as I have no real problem with them, and if they can maintain this consistency... awesome. It even furthers our accomplishments when we beat them... but NU is #4 in all time wins, and that is, IMHO, to be applauded.

Honestly, were the other team in the Big 8 even trying all those years, with obvious exception of OU? Phooey.
