Gnats (again)

I know this was posted the other day but now I have the same problem. I assume they're gnats/fruit flies. Little reddish f*ckers. I can't figure out where they're coming from but they've taken over my apartment, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom. I don't have any trash or fruit out. I know it posted to use some sort of insecticide but I have pets so they would not be safe to use. Someone please help! They're gross...

Sounds like fruit flies, they'll show up REAL quick if you have ANY peelings in your trash (esp banana & apple peels - or simply bananas sitting out...). They might also be coming from a trashy neighbor's apartment through the vents if the AC units are complex-wide and not individual per apartment. Or they might just like the cooler air of your place vs outside, they're tiny, so any little crack will let them in...

They won't hurt anything, but I'm guessing you've more than likely overlooked some source of food for 'em. What kind of pets? Maye it's their food that's attracting the bugs.

PS, they also like rotten vegetation, you have any dead plants (or their old leaves down in the plant pot) around?

No plants in the apartment, no trash, no fruit. I have a kitten but he only eats dry food so I doubt they are attracted to that. They're obnoxious little creatures (the fruit flies, not kittens).
