Ginobili out for season, playoffs

This sucks.

Here's to a speedy and healthy recovery.

Spurs may be done for good and I'm not saying just for this year. I'm perplexed by the decline of Tim Duncan who was clearly the best player just a short time ago and still is not very old. What happenned ot him?

TimmyD had four yrs of college in the ACC, unlike the one and done kids. So there's your answer for his rapid decline. Also, I think that the Spurs are better off without Manu. That gives more time to Roger Mason to shine.

Tim is playing through knee and thigh injuries right now - maybe they've just slowed him down. Maybe he'll be back strong for the playoffs - in 2006 he was looking weaker than usual most of the regular season and then turned it on in the playoffs so maybe the same thing will happen. It'll help that the games are more spaced out.

I'm afraid they were done before this announcement. Now, it is certain. Get well soon, Manu.

Tim wouldn't have been sitting out like that though. And the Spurs are definitely better with Ginobili than without him. I can't understand why anyone would dispute that.

Well, name me a Western Conf team this year that wouldn't get mudholed by the Lakers. The Rockets aren't in any unique position...

I don't see them getting out of the first round, regardless of who they match up against. With Ginobili, I think they were the second best team in the West with a puncher's chance against LA. Without him? They're done.

With tonight's loss to Portland, the Spurs are now 18-16 without Ginobili and 32-12 when he plays. And Tim is clearly hurt. It's a lose-lose situation here because it's looking like to have him healthy for the playoffs he needs to sit out the rest of the regular season, but in a 3-way tie for 3rd place, can they really afford that?

It might be a moot point if he keeps playing the way he has. He looks like he's at about 70% right now.
