Keep up the good work, Mr. Gilbert. Please [continue to] play hard, stay healthy, and maintain focusness!

Look forward to seeing you on the 40 Acres in less than a year from now.

I don't see any similarities to Colt. I would compare him to Simms with a little more mobility. He has a cannon for an arm. The reason his completion % is only 62 is because he throws downfield so much. He is gonna be outstanding.

isn't he playing without his best receiver from last year? the guy who quit football to concentrate on baseball.

His top 2 WRs from last year are not playing.

Jason Bird, All-State last year wsa a SR.

Cohl Walla, UT Baseball signee, is a SR this year, but has opted not to play football.

Cade McCrary wsa the number 3 man last year and is number 1 this year.

I made a trip up to Hutto Friday night to check him out. I have to say I was extremely impressed. Strong arm, accurate, mobile, leader, big, etc. Physically about where Colt was last year. A man among boys. There's a reason he hasn't accumulated many running yards. There's seldom a reason for him to run except for the occasional scramble. At the high school level there's almost always someone open and he can find them and deliver the ball. He goes vertical regularly and almost always puts it on the money. I recall only one slightly underthrown ball and nothing overthrown that I can remember. Hutto had lost one game by one point and Gilbert/Lake Travis blew them out, scoring almost at will through the air. Lake Travis finally started running some running plays just to give their defense some time to rest after getting pounded by Hutto's option attack in between their quick scores. It will be interesting to see if he gets playing time next year to get him ready to start his second year.

How are the forearms? Was he born above a box of Texas soil? How many languages does he speak? Is his father a famous opera singer in Holland? Can he play LB? How does he feel about capes? How does he feel about orange pants? Does he have a cool nickname yet?....If not we can start working on that for him. Will he be dating a girl from a rival school during his redshirt freshman year that can be a story and an interview after the game? Has he ever been face raped? Does he believe in burnt orange houses? Does he believe in east-west running offenses? Finally...Does he know that OU sucks?

I have seem Gilbert play several times this year. He is very mobile, much like Colt, but not as fast yet. He is a big strong physical kid with great lower body strength. He has great footwork. He has a tremendous understanding of the game and never panics. Most of all he is a very firey competitor.

I do not liken him to Simms, other than he throws well like Chris.

IMO, Gilbert is the best high school QB prospect I have seen in my 40+ years of being involved in or around high school football.

Two things:

1. When I said Colt-like, I didn't mean he reminded me of Colt physically or the ways he plays. It just so happened that at the time, both QBs had identical TD/INT numbers. Just a fun fact observation.

2. Now he's at 25 TD's. 1 INT. Are you serious? almost 200 attempts and one pick? Can't wait to get this kid on campus.

Man his stats are ridiculous. Meanwhile Matt Barkley has 14 TD's and 11 INT's and around 1400 yards but remains a lock as the #1 QB in the nation.

I gotta think Gilbert moves up into the top 10 real soon.

LT took on Hendrickson (who was 5-1 or something like that going into the game). GG made them look silly. LT won 57-0. GG's stats were:

20/26 passing. 376 yards. 5 TD's. 0 INT's.

He sat out most of the 2nd half I believe, too.
