Gilbert reaction vs. Scott reaction

I find it pretty disgusting that there are far more posts on this board relating to the Scott situation than to the Gilbert commitment. What's wrong with you people???

You know I went to UT and don't see jack on here about me.

I thought this was going to be a thread about how the kids looked on announcing their respective plans. Gilbert didn't have the disquieting eye movement (go back and watch DS's announcement-- I knew by his eyes that he had internal questions after his commitment) and referred to it as a dream come true. Gilbert wasn't left to say that he would learn to live with a negative he had previously mentioned concerning his school of choice.

Oh well. I probably need some smarter more superior poster to tell me that I embarrass him by obsessing over Scott, which I obviously do.

From an appearance standpoint, it just looks like there's more interest in a possible scandal than in the commitment of a big-time recruit.

WE are all ecstatic about Gilbert. He wants to come here, he's a winner. Winners don't need affirmation from accolades and grandeur. When it gets closer to time for Gilbert to actually report, our enthusiasm will increase and the posting to his awesomeness will ensue!! I assure you.

Gilbert looks a little bit like Chris Simms.

Scott doesn't look anything like Major Applewhite, though, so I don't really know where to take this.

Is Gilbert related to Chris Gilbert who established Camp Olympia? Chris Gilbert had another claim to fame although my memory escapes me on its relevance.

Garrett is the son of Gale Gilbert who was a career backup QB in the NFL for several years and played his college ball at Cal. Chris was a top-notch UT running back from the Royal era (1966-68). I doubt there is any relation. Chris Gilbert held the record for the longest run in UT history for a number of years (96 yards) and I believe was the first back to rush for 1000 yards in each season he played.

If Gilbert were going to be on campus next year, I'd bet you'd see more of a reaction, even ignoring the nonbinding verbal commit.

If anything is proven against Colorado, I can't even imagine how nasty it's going to get here.
