just caught the tail-end of ESPN's coverage of the All-Star Freshmen-vs Sophomores (1st vs 2nd yr?) players--saw where Gibson sets a record with 11 3 pointers for the 2nd year players, and Durant was high point for the 1st yr--hey, not MVP of the Finals, but something for Barnes to hang his hat on, no doubt!!

Second highest points in the rookie/sophmore challenge, 33, one point off the highest
Tied the record for 3's in the game by half time with 7.
Had Lebron basically jumping up and down on the side line.
entertaining game with Aldridge, Durant and Gibson providing a lot of the points.

What you missed was seeing James constantly strolling the sidelines giving Hurrah's over Gibson's draining shots!! It was something to behold.

Just great in this game that Durant, Gibson and LA were prominent. We had them for a total of, what, 5 years combined. Here they are the Soph-Rookie all-star game.

we could say the same about several college teams had all their players stayed for 4 years, assuming the seniors staying don't interfere with the ability to offer a scholly to some of the underclassmen.

there was a stretch there where Horns scored 10-12 straight points, Gibs with a 3 - KD bucket, LA dunk, Gibs 3, KD bucket.

KD was being guarded by Gibs for some time and quite successfully.

Horns with the MVP and the top Rookie scorer too.

Loved that bounce off the glass from Gibs to LA, together again and probably last time on the same team since they are in opposite conferences.

^ agreed, hard to top that lineup in college, even if its hypothetical. I'll take that over any other scenario that any other college can put up: Duke, Uconn, NC, whatever.

Ty Lawson
Marvin Williams (not really a two, so you could put Wayne Ellington in here and have Williams or Wright coming off the bench)
Brandan Wright
Tyler Hansbrough
Dwight Howard

That would be pretty sick too. Granted, Howard never actually played for UNC, he would have if the one year rule had been in place. That's the only one off the top of my head that I can think of that compares to ours. There are a couple of teams that have good rosters this year that would be boosted a little bit. Indiana could have had Josh Smith to add to the DJ White/Gordon mix, UCONN could have had Andrew Bynum and Rudy Gay. Still, Texas and UNC would be the two best lineups right now of guys who could still be in school imo.

I wouldn't count guys that never actually played for a college. That just doesn't make any sense.

That Texas line-up would be a force. It has been a pleasure to watch each of these guys (also gotta include TJ) play at the Drum the last few years. I had wished that each one of them stay an extra year and thought it would be beneficial for their games but I was proven wrong each time.

So UT accounted for 74 points in that game? What was the final score? Our guys probably accounted for 30% or more of the total points scored.

Last year could have been DJ, D Gib, PJ, KD, LA in the starting lineup with AJ, Connor, Justin, and Damion coming off the bench. That team would have gone undefeated by 25 points a game.
