Getting rid of those little ants...

In my bathroom there are those tiny little ants. I had some bigger ones before, so I put in those ant baits and they disappeared. But then the little ants came. I don't know what they want in my bathroom, (are these water ants?) but they keep showing up on my counters and floors. I don't even really know where they are coming from, although there are plenty of tiny cracks in the fixtures and such.

What can I do to get rid of them?

If you have small kids around use corn meal since its not poison. The ants will carry it back to the colony and they cannot digest it once they eat it and it kills them.

ABC Pest, who we pay quarterly, told me there was nothing they could do. Hum. I tried a shotgun approach. Bait (that Terro looks interesting since it's essentially non toxic borax), boric acid powder, and sevin dust around the house weekly. That worked...sort of.

These things are a pain to get rid of , but heres what worked for me.
First, spray the entire outside of your house with a hose end sprayer full of insecticide, spray it up on the sides of the house, around all windows and doors, cracks, holes etc. I know its bad for the envrironment, but hey, you want the ants gone dont you?

Second heat water over the stove in a pan, and melt some peanut butter, honey and boric acid in it. Put it into a ketchup bottle with one of those skinny nozzles on the top, like at a hamburger resturant. The idea here is that the ants are feeding on either sugar or protein, you dont know which, so this will be a toxic bait to them.

Take off the light switches cover plates and electric outlet plates from the room that you find the ants in. slip the ketchup bottle nozzle inbetween the electrical box and the sheetrock and give it a good squeeze. The gooey mess will run down the inside of your walls, and the ants will feed on it, take it back to the nest, and it will wipe out the colony.

This will take a week or so, sometimes sooner. They do seem to have big appetites for the mix. The mix will dry inside your walls, so it will not remain gooey for long, and will not start stinking.

Wait a week , spray the outside again, then lace the whole yard with amdro or any ant bait. Again, this is not being environmentally friendly, but like I said , it works very well.

Or you could just dust a little diatomaceous earth on the cracks.

Look, mix about a cup of Molasses, two cups of distilled vinegar and some dishsoap into a gallon of water when you see and ant mound, and just pour that right into the center of the mound.

Why poison everything? It's too expensive and kills frogs. I like the honey, PB and boric acid idea- I think that would be good on roaches, also.
