Getting rid of lizards/geckos

I have these little lizard like creatures -- I'm not even sure if they're baby lizards, geckos, or chameleons.

They apparently live behind the wall near my front door. I thought we could live in peace but they've taken to dive-bombing us when we open the door.

How I do get rid of them?

Those little dudes rock - they're all over my parents house and they hang out in big numbers near the windows on the outside eating bugs. They're not only helpful, but they also put on a good show when they're stalking and eating moths, mosquitos and june bugs.

if you get rid of them, you'll soon find an infestation of said bugs mentioned above. they usually hang out on the screen by my front door and watch tv.

i imagine bug spray would probably work. poison is poison, right?

however, as stated above, you probably want those guys around. you'd be amazed at the amount of bugs they'll eat.

Get rid of the insects and you'll get rid of the geckos. But I'm with everyone else.....learn to live with them.

So they are dive-bombing you?

I'll now pose a relevant question which to this point has been overlooked: Are you or your spouse a mosquito or other insect?

Well, its not a premeditated dive bomb per se. Its just we have a screen door that they must hang out on. When we open the door it begins to rain lizards.

You go ahead and call PETG. I've given them fair warning to leave the premises and they won't.

If you know they are going to fall, wait a couple of seconds before you walk out the door. No sense at all in killing the geckos/lizards.

First, I never said I wanted or needed to kill them. I would prefer they take up residence elsewhere.

You guys must have an open door policy for spiders and non-venomous snakes as well. They can really help you with insects, field mice, etc.

Some how I missed the Horn Depot altogether and landed on the West Mall.

One difference between the lizards and spiders/snakes is that the lizards won't bite you, your children, or your pets.

If you de-bug your front door area (light zapper, bug bombs, extensive bug spray, turn off your porch light, etc.), the lizards will leave. They eat their weight in bugs each day, so if there are no more bugs, they will leave the area.

I also think you will regret it later if you force these guys to move along.

i've got them all over my back doors and they do in fact do a wonderful job of insect control - my only problem is that every time i open the door one of them will inevitably sneak in and drive my cats crazy and i have to listen to them ***** until i can catch it and throw it back outside
good times

True gecko story (this is almost orgasmic):

I was having a serious problem with big black carpenter ants. One afternoon my wife was finally able to trace a line of them to a tree in my neighbors yard (right up against my fence). Not being one to resort to pesticides, I gathered two geckos and placed them on the tree where the proceeded to devour a couple of the ants straight away.

About two days later, I go out by the tree and there have to be at least 10 to 15 geckos hanging out on this tree feasting on ants. About 2 days later, no ants and they haven't been back. This was about 18 months ago.

I love these guys (the geckos that is). They are pure greatness and entertainment. They are welcome around my home (and in) whenever they like. My kids love them too.
