getting rid of a hard drive

Do you have access to one of these:

Nothing less than complete destruction of the HDD. And then they can probably still rebuild some of you files if they were sufficiently motivated.

If you want to tinker around - check out 'secure erase'... has to do with native coding on ATA drives after 2001.

The program has apparently been added to the "UBCD" : Ultimate Boot CD (free... just google on it an burn to CD), I intended to check it out.

This kind of stuff is a real time killer in between for Bowl games!

If you don't have access to a good degausser, DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke) will also do a decent job although it takes awhile.

If you think the Feds or Jason Bourne are on to you, do the nails and also crush it with a hammer. Take pieces and distribute in varous trashcans in different places. Be creative and very random.

Sincerely,

Pam Landy

No, I don't have Jason Bourne after me or the IRS for that matter. But I will take a hammer and randomly distribute the pieces.

Thanks guys.

My company never throws away hard drives when they get rid of old computers.

We just have a closet full of old hard drives somewhere.
