Getting MS Word

My computer at home did not come with MS Word installed but rather just the notepad and Works. How or where can I get that program without having to buy the whole MS Office packet. I would like word and excel thats it.

If your a student u can get it cheap at the campus computer store.

MS packages all applications in their suites for individual sale. Go to any store that sells software and pick them up off the shelf. I will add that purchasing both Word and Excel may push you toward the break even point of buying Office.

If you are a software developer or consultant, you can join Microsoft's Partner program (free for basic level) and then get an Action Pack subscription for $300 (at least, this is what it cost two years ago). They will send you practically every business software title they make (including Office).

This is cheaper (actually it's free).
And can open and save in microsoft formats. I use it all the time.
