it looks like i am about to sell my car. i have one of those silver/metal longhorn decals on my car. any idea how to take it off? i don't want to rip it off and then damage the paint or is it fine to do that?

dental floss or a shoe string... slide it in behind and work it lose... then clean up the paint finish with hot water and a soft rag... be cautious if using Goo Gone.... WD40 might be a better bet...

I prefer a hair dryer first, then floss to cut it off. Finish up the job with goo gone, then wash with dishwashing detergent (palmolive or some such), and put a coat or two of paste wax on the area you washed with the dishwashing soap (generally it will remove any wax on the vehicle, that's why I reapply).

Dental floss and lighter fluid will take care if it quite nicely. Do remember to wax the spot - it's been covered for a while with the Longhorn, and needs the wax protection.

i tried using dental floss but it looks to be on there good. i couldn't get the floss in there and when i sorta did, the floss snapped. maybe fishing line? or maybe i need to do the WD40 first?

Squirt a little WD-40 behind the Longhorn, wait a bit, then use the floss. It should come right off.

Now for the real question: I also took one off a truck I sold, now I need to know where can I buy replacement double-stick foam tape to put that longhorn on something else...

jmatt...
you can buy tape like that at any office supply place... and if you want actual vehicle tape then go to Autozone and you'll be able to find a product called "body moulding tape" that should be black/grey in color... it's designed for sticking to a car...

Why take it off? The value of the vehicle is much higher with it on there. You wouldn't sell your car to an Aggie would you? Have some standards, please.
