Wednesday at 1:30pm eastern time Columbus Carver linebacker Jarvis Jones will tell the nation where he will play his college football. Tuesday afternoon at Carver High, the chatter amongst teammates was all over the place on where the four star prospect will end up.

The first national letters of intent will be signed and faxed in just a few hours. In Columbus, GA, one lucky program will land four-star linebacker Jarvis Jones around 1:30pm Eastern Time.
In spending a couple of hours at Carver High this afternoon, it became apparent very quickly that Jones’ teammates had their own ideas of which luck program their star teammate would sign tomorrow.

The choices according to most nationally are USC, Texas, Florida and some sparse mention of in-state Georgia along with LSU.

Burnt Orange Beat arrived in Columbus around 3:45pm after a several hour drive from Gainesville High northeast of Atlanta. After locating Carver High and driving back to park by the gymnasium, it was time to go hear the chatter and predictions with Jones’ press conference less than 24 hours away.

IMO opinion its a sign we have a legit chance here... i can't imagine a trip to see a prospect choose a rival is a worthy investment for a news service. Not sure how big the service is, but i would think they have reason to believe its going to come our way?

bragg, i've got a question for you...is the hat game something the kids actually want to do, or is it pushed on them (by parents, buddies, tv jerkoffs, or you guys)? hopefully jones just sits down and says something like, "this has been a long tough process, as i've received offers from many fine programs. after visiting with my family, i believe that the University of Texas is the best choice for me. thanks for coming, and hookem horns."

the hat game is completely lame and exceedingly douchey, and i fully expect you to singlehandedly put a stop to it. feel free to have gerry pass my script to mr. jones.

I'm tired of the hats too, but I think kids feel obligated to do the hat thing, like its just another part of the whole process. Wearing a gown and a goofy flat hat with a tassle is even worse but we all expect graduates to do it. Its just part of the deal.

What from that article would make us think we have a shot? I want this kid as bad as anyone because he looks like he will be a stud, but it just does not look good. I hope I am wrong.

Schools should have one announcement ceremony for all students getting scholarships. If a kid wants a circus then take it off campus.

Thats probably what this is. I don't know Carver High may have a bunch of recruits going D1, but most schools do not. My school for instance had zero D1 football players during my stay there.

All the hoopla and the presser make me sort of sick.

I'll go along with Mack on his choices, but this sort of grandstanding doesn't sit well with me. I won't lose any sleep if he goes somewhere else.

Good luck to him either way.

Carver is having one press conference for all 10 guys who are signing D1 and D1AA scholarships. They will all be at one table.

Texas has as good a shot as anyone. In fact, more than both all of the SEC schools IMO.

"All I can tell you is to trust me on it... I myself wanted him to go to USC, but from deep inside his camp its gonna be TEXAS..!"

This kind of post would be deleted on Hornfans. The infamous - "deep inside his camp" - trick.

If the Rivals national board is a good source,

I think that should read if "Internet poster Eye-4-Talent is a good source." At least J Jones is providing some old-fashioned signing day suspense. It is truly amazing how recruiting and reporting on recruiting has changed over the past fifteen years.

If you are not going to top Deric Evans' National Signing Day press conference of 1988, don't even try. The hat dance, coin flip, all of that other stuff is weak compared to holding a press conference in a hot tub.

Does anyone thing he has made up his mind, including contacting all head coaches involved, and is just wait to announce it to us common folk.

I just wonder if Mack already knows, or if he is going to keep refreshing his browser on BOB like everyone else.

There may be a hat scenario. From Gerry that I posted on our premium board:
