(posted on 316 also, but using loopy's advice (and support) decided to do a double post here so i can get a non pervert point of view....)

My parents just called (around 3 hours ago) and told me that a kid who i have not seen since i was 10 is coming to the good ole US from germany (His parents work with my dad and i used to play with him as a kid in germany) Well apparently this is the time between his required social service and college (wow the crouts are crazy with this stuff) and he decided to spend these 3 weeks in the greater TX area (my parents live in baytown)... now i must entertain him while keeping up the resemblance of taking summer school at UT and doing a good job... What all should i do?

Thinking of going to Mexico and Louisiana (my brother goes to school ther and well, its another state for him to visit)

ideas? Oh and he just turned 21 so anything is open... IDEAS needed!

You almost have to take him to the Alamo. It is a required duty for any Texan charged with the travel itinerary of a visitor. Of course, you have to show him the Riverwalk at the same time. Tough job, but someone has to do it.

He might be interested in New Braunfels. You might have to take him tubing down the Comal or the Guadalupe.

If you want to give him a taste of the Central Texas German culture, take him to Walburg (about 15 miles north of Georgetown just off of IH35) to Walburg Mercantile, a German restaurant/beer garden. There is also a hamburger place just beyond this on the FM road in Walburg (still in town, can't miss it, Walburg is very small) which has an outdoor stage and pretty good bands. Good boot scooting (if that is your thing)

This is in addition to all the sights and sins that you can show him in Austin, which I'm sure you are more than familiar with....Gotta give him the nickel tour of UT, the Tower, the stadium, the Bullock Museum, the Capitol (now safe for visitors now that the Lege is out of session), SoCo, Barton Springs, Windy Point and Hippie Hollow out at Travis, the Oasis.

In Houston, you could take him to Kemah and the waterfront there.

It's kraut, not crout.

I like the tubing idea. The bigger the group, the better
Astros game (or Round Rock Express)
Maybe a BBQ tour around the Hill Country
If he wants to do any shopping, you might take him to the outlet mall
If you have any friends with a boat you should take him to the lake.
Gruene Hall

ya dont know why i wrote that... was pretty tired... seemed likei would of caught that after living there for 5 freaking years
