Heard about this show and now it is set to begin on 07/13/2008. Just in time for those of us that miss good HBO on Sunday nights. From the creator of The Wire the miniseries focuses on the real life story of highly trained Marines during the first 40 days of the current Iraq invasion.

The subject matter will focus on the frustrations during the initial push towards Bagdad. In addition, two of the actual real live Marines will portary themselves in the show.

Can't wait and have HIGH EXPECTATIONS.

This was a good book.

Reading it made me go and read Fick's book, One Bullet Away. It's also good, and the two books compliment each other quite well.

There are frustrations expressed in both books, but no more than in any other war memoir. Both memoirs remain rather apolitical, IMO.

The miniseries might be a different story. HBO makes good stuff, though. They seem to be a whole lot more comfortable letting viewers make up their own minds than the network shows typically do. It's nice to not be treated like a total idiot as a viewer.
