Great episode. I wasn't in the service but you can really appreciate how a combat zone can be so confusing and frustrating, given the varying degrees in competence of the officers and NCOs.

You should read the book. Captain America and Encino Man haven't even begun to **** up.

I wanted to kick Captain America's *** so badly when I read the book.

the most striking thing to me is how the "rules of engagement" evolved so quickly (and necessarily).

...and to think that this depicts a time when the war was going to plan.

Just watched - the fire fight going through that city was intense. The cinematography is awesome in this show. There was a scene where they were going over a bridge,and you could see reflections in the water, and that last scene with Godfather and the sunset in the back as the camera slowly zoomed in...great stuff. Is Captain America the guy always yelling and telling them to cut the mustaches?

I thought that Capt America was the "dickweed" capt with the AK that shot the unarmed guy. The guy always talking about shaving is the Sgt-Major.

I believe Encino Man is the guy who went around asking his troops to voice any concerns or opinions they had when they were at the "captured" air field...and then didn't like what he heard. Right?

Just for clarification: Captain "Encino Man" Schwetje was in command of Bravo Company. His operations chief was Gunnery Sergeant "Casey Kasem" Greigo who was always lecturing and trying to undermine Lt. Fick.
Captain Patterson was the competent commander of Alpha Company. He was the one who cold-cocked "Encino Man" in the football game. It was probably his way of venting accumulated frustration at the incompentence of "Encino Man" who had a tunneled vision of command in combat as some sort of "fourth and one" cliched football dilemma that always put his men at risk.

I think encino man went to Georgia Tech. He yells "Go yellow jackets" after they lift the humvee out of the hole on the bridge.
