General Primary Question

Seeing the Super Tuesday results roll in, I'm beginning to wonder- should it matter if delegates you win are in a state that your party won't carry. Obama is picking up several Southern states that tend to fall to the Republicans. Whether Romney or McCain end up getting California, the state will almost certainly vote Democratic. Is it worth taking delegates from a lame duck state in selecting your party's candidate?

Yes, because it takes all the states to make the nomination. Don't confuse the primary process with the general election. Think of it as a qualifying heat or a playoff (like March madness) to advance to the final round.
