I am getting quotes for my auto insurance for my 3 car family and most are in the same ballpark except for Geico. Their quotes for the same exact coverages dollar for dollar is over half the price which makes me kinda leery. Does anyone here use them and/or has anyone had any claims and how well did they handle them for you. Any help/advice is mucho appreciated.

Thanks

I have Geico. Filed a claim for the hail storm that hit. Got the appraisal on a Sunday and had the check the following Tuesday.

GEICO rocks. Had GEICO, was hit (not my fault), other insurer wanted to partially blame me. GEICO fixed my truck, went after the other insurer and won - I was reimbursed my dedutible. Several years later I switched to Allstate thinking I would get better service. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't any better than GEICO. I'm now back with GEICO for the last year and half and our quote was half of what Allstate wanted. GEICO is a solid co. and acts very quickly in settling any claims.

Ive used Geico for years. They are usually competitvly priced and have good service. You can call them at 3AM if you want to.

I wouldn't trust GEICO as far as I can throw a grand piano. I got hit from behind by one of their insured and got a total runaround from the GEICO Office. My insurance went ahead and fixed my car (subject, of course to my out-of-pocket $250 deductible). I will never do business with GEICO.

I just switched to GEICO a few weeks ago after 15 years with Nationwide. The pricing system is sort of a black box though. I tried to get a quote online for my car and truck. The website said they couldn't quote it immediately, but would have something in 24 hours. It gave me the option to wait for the quote via email of call the 800-number for an immediate quote. Here's how it turned out for a six month premium:

Nationwide: $661
GEICO via phone: $501
GEICO via email: $722 (received 24 hours later).

I took the $501.

no, i wouldn't want my insurance company giving someone the runaround. if i hit someone, and it's my fault, i want it taken care of asap with as little problems for the person hit. every insurance company will fight for their client when the time is right.

in 03 i was hit at 24th and Guadalupe. kid somehow didn't see my big white tahoe in the lane next to him as he tried to go around a bus. his dad's insurance was state farm. i was going out of the country next day. they told me to take my car to the chevy dealer and it would be fixed when i got back. sure enough, and, they paid for a rental for the week (which was retarded b/c i was gone, but they insisted i take it home from the dealer). i moved to state farm recently after that.

married into USAA, so i'm with them now. but that's a whole different ballgame

I've been with GEICO for about 7 or 8 years without any complaints. Pricing and customer service on phone is excellent, but honestly, I haven't had any claims, so I can't speak to that end of it.

I had Geico for years before I got married and loved their service - beat the hell outa State Farm, Farmers, etc. When I got married. we switched to Stina's insurance because it was a better rate combined with the homeowners. Since we've sold her house, we're back with Geico after doing the comparison to Progressive and others.

Also, there's never been any problem with them paying out when it was obviously my fault. All claims have been handled quickly and smoothly. So, yes, I'd recommend them.

I have had Geico for 10 years, they are the BEST!! You can go online any time to access your account info, see your policy, or make changes.

They settle claims in a day. They will send someone out to jump start your car, or break into it for you. They will give you a rental car, FAST.

The guy that said he was having problems was not their client. If he was, he would have had a rental car, and a check that day......

A lot of my family works for State Farm. It was funny that when my cousin's windshield was broken, he had to pay a deductible to get it fixed. Mine was replaced free by GEICO. And he WORKS for State Farm!!! I was loving it......

Go GEICO.......

One of Warren Buffett's pride and joys. Not saying that's good or bad...just an observation. He doesn't get into business to lose money which is a positive in the insurance business, I would guess.

For everyone that has a story of how X insurance company was cheaper than Y, you can find another than that says Y was cheaper than X. Same goes with stories about claim service. What is most important, IMO, is the overall satisfaction ratings and complaint index compared to the rest of the competition.

Keep in mind that many companies that are highly regarded when it comes to taking care of their own policyholders, do not go out of their way when it comes to claimants they have no relationship with. USAA and State Farm are the two largest companies that fit that description. So just because your neighbor's brother-in-law had a bad experience when a USAA insured driver hit him does not mean that USAA would not be a good insurance company for you.

We've had Geico for about 6-7 years and have always had very good service. We've filed 2-3 claims and they have always been handled quickly and fairly whether it was our fault or not.

I had Geico for ~15 years. I like them.

I switched, however, to Farmers when I got my house b/c they beat the Geico rate big time.

Another person who has had a great experience with Geico but also has never 'needed' them for anything.
