I already had a case and a dvd player, everything else is new. I spent another $40 or so on vanity cables and misc crap (somehwere I must have a dozen phillips screw drivers, but I have no idea where), so call it an even $900. I probably didn't need to get a new power supply, but I wanted something that had enough juice for the future, and ran quiet. All ordered off newegg.

90 bucks for a psu?

Yeah, the psu was a total splurge. But the only thing I already had was a noisy 300w that came in some budget antec case. Not sure it would have had the juice to do newer video cards. Installing windows over sata was a total pain in the ***. I was going to wait for nforce4 motherboards, but since when I upgrade its usually because my machine is extremely rusty, I never find myself saving the board.

Now if you had 2 of the SATA drives or better yet, 2 that run at 10,000 rpm in a RAID-0 configuration, then you'd be truly geeking.

I got a Dell Insprion 5160 laptop yesterday with the 750$ coupon+ 50$ mail in rebate, for 830$

P4 3.2Ghz
512 Ram
Gf4 FX 5200 64 MB textures
80GB HD.

I would have gotten an extra battery if I did not have to pay the MS tax, oh well This is the first time I have owned XP. Much less know how to do anything with it. I still can't get the god damn Wireless card running, but Suse cannot detect it either so I guess it is a wash.

linux,

my new laptop (with the same coupon) didn't have too much trouble detecting my wireless network, as well as my neighbor's. have you connected to that wireless network with another PC before?
