Perhaps in 10 years or so, I'll get used to this brave new world of NIL, but so far it's been a shock to my system.
The newest 501(c)(3) so-called "collective" established by wealthy Texas donors will pay each UT Offensive Lineman $50,000 per year for their NILs beginning in 2022. Hmmm, that happens to coincide with one of the weakest position groups on the team. Can you spell recruiting?
Since there are 15 or more OL on scholarship each year, we're talking about $750,000 in compensation to these lucky few. Other position groups are in the works, a NIL system Texas is pioneering that will serve as a model for other schools.
15 corresponds neatly with the total number of WBB scholarships. Can men and women BB deals be far behind? I don't imagine Vic would object, as Rori already has a modest NIL deal with Orangebloods.
